Angkor Wat...and other Wats too...

Just when we thought the build was over...along came our 4:15am wake up call...And off to catch the sun rising over Angkor Wat. Mr Keang was right on time to pick us up (which might explain him having to nap during the day when he was suppose to be meeting us) We also met Paul (not the one Cooper married twice) who was to be our tour guide for the day. (at a rate of $30 for the day with $5 premium added for starting before the sun rose)

It was a balmy 32 degrees at 5am...and if we had of known how hot it was going to get, we might have started at midnight....

This photo looks so serene but there are actually about 1000 other people beside us watching...

The Michelles hanging at the library...

Angkor Wat...

On our way to Angkor Thom...

On one side of the bridge into the City of Angkor Thom, there are the demons.....

And on the other side there are the Gods...(now who's the nice Michelle?)

Angkor Thom...

The Michelles and the Monks...

This is my favourite photo...

Who needs Monkey Island?? Watching Cooper almost get pinched in the butt by a monkey was worth the price of admission... too bad she had the camera...

Our overpaid and underworked driver, Mr Keang...

Should we climb it? Do we have to?

We do love our monks...

Centre of town of Angkor Thom...

Do you see it?

Hard to remember which Wat is What??

Ian, AKA Indiana Jones...from Florida

Cooper getting some sun....

A zen moment...

This is where Tomb Raider was filmed...

Watch out Lara Croft...here comes Cooper...

Do you have three arms Cooper?

They call this tree, the Europeon bum...(our guide told us Cambodians have only small bums) We're just glad he didn't say Canadian...

Although it didn't look too good, my chicken amok tasted fabulous!!

At around 1pm... we headed back to Angkor Wat to climb to the top...(it was starting to fell like the Grouse Grind by then...)

View of Angkor Wat...

Did Gilligan lose his hat?

Climbing these stairs to the top of Angkor Wat took every piece of energy I had..

...until I saw the fraile eighty year old man in front of me. Cooper and I were gasping for air by the time we got to the top and then this man turns around and gives us his toothless smile... Puts it all into perspective...

Not my best jump...but only got one in before the camera battery died...

Apparently it is good luck for newly married couples to give thanks at Angkor Wat so we saw quite a few of them walking around... (funny...none of the bridemaids were wearing hats...must be because all of the construction workers have them..)

With all the heat and walking, it felt like my flip flops had melted to my feet…The only cure for that was a fish pedicure… (did I mention that they're from the Piranha family?)

It's just the first couple of minutes that really tickles...then you get used to it....

Cold beer, good friends and clean feet...what more could a girl want?

Can you count my toes Cooper?

Then three hours at the Bodia Spa put the final touches on an exhilarating yet exhausting day in the life of the Michelles...
